How to Prep a Great Wedding Party

Written by Katelyn of

You probably have some friends who have been with their significant others for a few years and now it has finally happened. They are engaged. I am sure amongst the elation you feel for your friend or friends, there is also a sense of duty. The planning will start soon and you, of course, will be on board to help. Many aspects follow a natural flow: venue, photographer, florals, etc. However, there are some aspects that are necessary but don’t seem as important, beauty services being one of those. Wrong.

Hair and makeup are one of the most overlooked aspects of preparing for a wedding. The bride often thinks that she can book great hair and makeup artists suited to herself and her bridal party only a month or so out. Hate to be the breaker of bad news, but that is extremely late to be looking for hair and makeup for a wedding. More often than not, the best artists are booked months (we’re talking 6 plus months) in advance. If it wasn’t obvious, good hair and makeup are paramount for a bride on her wedding day, as this sets the foundation for her day, as well as, the photos to be taken throughout the day. With the right hair and makeup, she will feel as confident and beautiful as she truly is, and that is absolutely priceless.

The right beauty services and artists for the bride the day of her wedding are very important, but she also has her bride tribe standing by her as well. It may seem minor, but prepping the wedding party is just as important as prepping the bride. They will also have plenty of pictures taken of them (most often with the bride and groom), and they should look their best as well. For themselves, but also for the bride so that when looks back on her photos, there is nothing she would change.

So what is the best way to prep a great wedding party? Here is our list of essentials:

Tip 1

Make sure you take the precautions prepping for the wedding, just as the bride does. I am not saying you have to lose a bunch of weight or go on a cleanse, rather take care of yourself. Eat greens, drink plenty of water, getting plenty of sleep. All of these will help you to have clear and glowing skin the day of the wedding.

Tip 2

Chat with the artists that your bride has booked and talked about what you are thinking. They may have been booked by the bride, but you can also make sure that you feel comfortable with them and that they are the right fit for you.

Tip 3

Have an idea in mind of what style of hair and makeup you would like for the wedding day. Does the bride have a theme she wants you to stick with? Look up some ideas that fit within that style and that work for you.

Tip 4

Any treatments you plan on getting done so a few days to a week before, so you are not stressing the day off. The last thing you want to do is stress your bride out with a treatment you got that may affect how photos turn out (i.e. bad spray tan, hair color, etc.)

Tip 5

Most importantly, enjoy the day. Honestly, just have fun. When the bridal party is having a good time, you can help relax the bride and make the day truly a day to remember for all the right reasons.
