Why You Should Start Using Organic Cosmetics

Being a typical girly girl, I tend to enjoy all things associated with beauty – nail polishes, face masks, makeup, perfumes, creams, ointments etc. You name it – I have it!

Recently I started reading about the different properties of cosmetic products and the ingredients which are used to make them, and to be perfectly honest, I was quite shocked to learn about the chemicals and toxins that are hidden inside my makeup bag!

This is why I decided to broaden my search to some more people and environmentally friendly cosmetic products and luckily, I had the pleasure of getting to know the true power of organic cosmetics.

So, today I want to tell all of you how organic cosmetics changed my life and why you should switch to organic products ASAP.

Eco – Friendly

The first thing that caught my attention, once I started investigating the differences between conventional and organic cosmetics, is the fact that conventional products are made from chemicals which are harming our environment.

Once these petroleum-based products contaminate the soil, rivers and the oceans they become a direct threat to the complete flora and fauna on Earth.

Not only do these products contain toxins, but cosmetic companies are known to leave the biggest environmental footprint as a result of the plastic packaging which is usually not recycled.

The thing that probably had the biggest impact on me to switch to organic products is that they, unlike conventional cosmetics, don’t rely on animal testing of any sort to analyze the state of their merchandise.

People Friendly

When you read about all the harmful effects these products have on the environment, you naturally start to ask yourself what kind of damage are they doing to you personally.

This question haunted me for a long time, knowing I’ve been using conventional cosmetics for years now and not being aware of the dangers which were lurking by.

Most of the cosmetics we use are absorbed through both skin and blood, which is quite alarming once you read about the chemicals like parabens, phthalates, oxybenzone and even fragrances which can cause some severe health issues like hormonal disbalance, allergic reactions, asthma attacks and in some more serious cases, cancer.

These chemicals can also cause some major skin issues like hyperpigmentation, eczema, dermatitis and others. The ingredients used in organic cosmetics keep you free from all these risks, as they are all naturally derived compounds from plants.

Another thing that I simply have to mention is that using organic cosmetics FEELS different than using conventional products.

Since I’ve started using organic products, my skin is much softer and gentler and it doesn’t dry as quickly as it used to.

I’m no expert but I truly believe that the products I used before were harming my skin and my health more with every day, which is why I’m forever grateful that I’ve found salvation in organic cosmetics.

Nutrient Rich

The last thing I wanted to talk about is about all the benefits that organic cosmetics has for your health. As mentioned earlier, our bodies absorb everything we put on it, so choosing safe products and compounds which are rich in nutrients is crucial if you wish to have healthy skin and a healthy body.

Shea butter and cocoa butter are common ingredients in organic cosmetics and are commonly used as conditioning agents and for their healing properties.

This is because they contain vitamins E, D and A and essential antioxidants that help cleanse your skin.

Another example is the organic paw paw ointment, which is not to be confused with it’s rival – regular paw paw made of petroleum jelly. The organic paw paw is packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which is why it’s one of my favorite choices for smooth and tight skin.

These are just some of the things I have learned during my investigation regarding organic vs. conventional cosmetics.

Hope you enjoyed my article and don’t hesitate to comment about the experiences you had with organic products!
