Always take Off Your Makeup… Even If You Don’t Feel Like It

My teen years are the memories I cherish the most.

Getting to know who I am and creating my identity.

The friendships, the boyfriends and heartbreaks. All part and parcel of being a teenager.

Stealing your big sister’s mascara and your mum’s lipstick to put on when you go out to meet your friends, then suffering the consequences of it.

I remember trying out different makeup looks and seeing which one I liked most. I then grew to love eyeliner, liquid eyeliner being my guilty pleasure.

Unfortunately, for the younger me it would sometimes look very uneven and worse than Amy Winehouse’s eyeliner wings. However, 16 years down the line I think I have more than mastered the look.

Looking back at my younger years I have often thought if only I started this when I was in my teens.

When it comes to beauty, the biggest thing that I would go back and change as a teen would be to get to know and look after my skin.

I think I took my youthful skin and looks for granted and didn’t really look after it as much as I should have. I would find out what my skin type was and buy the appropriate skin care products a put together a skin care regime.

I just bought any old face wash and just thought it was doing its job. Not realising that actually, it could be damaging my skin.

As I have gotten older my skin has changed and become more sensitive. You can have a read of my post on what I use for my dry and sensitive skin. Read Here

Make sure that you take off your makeup at the end of the day even if you don’t feel like it and just want to get into bed.

It is so important to let your skin breathe. Have makeup free days to allow your skin to breathe and heal.

Even though you can get foundations that say that your skin can breathe it’s not the same thing. Look after your skin as it will serve you well as you get older.

I have learnt more about my skin and I do invest in it, I do a double cleanse every evening I moisturise and do a face mask every week. Take time to sure your skin some love.

Do you have any skin care regimes? What are they? I would love to hear from you leave me a comment below.
